Crucial Pizza Crust


When delivery doesn't cut it, make yer own.

GF. V. SF. NF.


Ingredients:

Crust:

1 tbsp sugar or maple syrup

1 cup warm water (105°F - 110°F)

1 tbsp active dry yeast

2 cups GF AP flour (I use Pamela's Artisan Blend)

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp salt

(double if you're having a party!)

Sauce & Topping Combo Ideas:

Tomato sauce / fresh veggies / vegan mozz / Italian seasoning

Olive oil & fresh herbs / fresh tomato / vegan mozz & parm / fresh oregano / microgreens

BBQ sauce / criminis / shredded carrots / corn / vegan mozz / fresh cilantro

Alfredo sauce (recipe here) / spinach / vegan parm / pine nuts / fresh basil

Tahini sauce (recipe here) / red onion / sun dried tomatoes / vegan mozz / radicchio leaves

Hoisin sauce (recipe here) / shiitakes / shredded carrots / mung bean sprouts / scallion

Pro tip: Miyoko's Creamery Fresh VeganMozz is incredible and worth every penny.

 

Directions:

Combine sugar, warm water, and yeast in a glass and let sit until foamy (about 5 mins) - if your mixture doesn't get foamy, your water is too hot or too cold. Or your yeast is old and dead. Try again!

In the bowl of a stand mixer, add flour, oil, and salt

Dump in the yeast mixture and mix using the hook attachment (or use your hands if you don't have a mixer) just until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl

If your dough is too dry - add more warm water, if it's too wet - add more flour

Place ya dough ball in an oiled bowl, cover, and rest for 30 minutes


Using a stone? Preheat grill with stone on the grate to high (450°F - 500°F)

Using a pan? Preheat oven to 450°F

Rip off a piece of parchment a little bit bigger than your pizza, lightly oil and sprinkle with cornmeal

Roll out dough using a flour dusted roller or press using your hands into your desired pizza shape (1/2" thick makes the perfect pie)

Decorate with sauce / toppings / cheese

Grill or bake on your stone or in a pan checking every 10 minutes for desired crispiness
